Mumbai Police Spreads Road Safety Awareness In ‘Casual Hai’ Meme Style

Mumbai police recently resorted to the ‘Casual Hai’ meme to make points about road safety rules. In a hilarious Instagram post, the law enforcement agency contrasted photos of people engaging in dangerous driving behavior such as not wearing helmets on two-wheelers, overspeeding, and using phones while driving with the ‘Casual Hai’ meme. Instead of saying “Baithne ka talika casual hai,” in this post, the man says “Safety ka tareeka casual nahi, dangerous hai.”

While sharing these images, Mumbai police wrote, “Casual se casualty ka risk kaafi serious hai.…” This post has so far gathered over 14,000 likes.

Praising the Mumbai police for this trend-appropriate post, an Instagram user wrote, “Dawg who got them Mumbai police a Gen Z editor nahh.” Another person wrote, “Brands should learn content strategy from this page!” Meanwhile, a comment also read, “Awareness ka traika thoda cazual hai sir.”

The ‘Casual Hai’ meme is based on a video by Chauhan in which he is preparing people for IAS interviews. In the original video, Chauhan judges a person’s way of entering the room for an IAS interview and taking a seat. Chauhan says, “’Entry achi hai bas baithene ka Tarika thoda casual hai’, meaning “The entry is good but the way of taking the seat is causal.” He then instructs the person to sit straight and not slouch and adopt appropriate body language while talking to the interviewers.

After this video became a meme, Chauhan addressed its virality in another video and said, “The statement, ‘Entry achi hai bas bethne ka Tarika thoda casual hai’…I understand there is a problem with the pronunciation of casual but apart from that why should it be meme material.”
